My Girl – A Birthday Wish

My Girl – A Birthday Wish

My daughter, Ava, just had her 8th birthday.  That means I’ve been a mother for 8 years.  That means she is officially a “big kid”……at least to me.  My private definitions go like this:

  1. baby: 0-2
  2. toddler: 2-4
  3. kid: 4-7
  4. big kid: 8-12
  5. teenager: 13-variable

She is a big kid that I am so proud of.  She is conscientious and sweet, a good friend to all, a great big sister, and so silly and creative.  I love her goofy one squinty-eyed dance.  I love how she is so sensitive to the feelings of others.  I love that she plays with her little brother and encourages her friends to be kind to him even when he interferes with their plans.  She loves to write stories, songs, sweet notes and cards for her family.  She helps with chores without being asked, and pretends to like food that I make even when she doesn’t like it much so she doesn’t hurt my feelings.

Thank you, Ava, for being my dream daughter.  My greatest wish for you is that you keep being who you are.  I love you.

Love,

Mama
